Prepare area and place block according to plan. It is recommended you bring in clean fill and have it properly compacted.

Here is an example of how the foundation should look if you are going to pour cement, however, in this training guide you will learn the C6 floor system.

The perimeter of the C6 floor system consists of 2 identical C6 studs connected together with 2 screws every foot.

Place these on the blocks according to the plans. Connect the corners on the outside with a 12x12 T6 bracket.

You will have a small gap on each corner (usually 2 inches). Consult the plans to see where & how wide.

Insert floor beams, (1) C6 with a T6 bracket on each end, 2’ from edge and 2’ OC. These too will also have a small gap.

Install inside corner brackets.

Take note of the small gap.

Install bridging by plan.

Completed C6 floor on blocks.

Set horses on flat area.

Construct trusses according to plan.

Do end brackets first, then bottom of center cord followed by top of center cord (also know as the king post). Trusses longer than 18’ will require additional webbing that the plans will specify.

After the first truss is completed you can use it as a template.

Completed trusses

The first & last truss will be different from the rest. These trusses will have vertical webbing for nailers & the overhang will be attached directed to this truss 2’ OC starting from the edge.

The brackets for the nailers will go on the open side. The flat side of the trusses will face the outside. This will create a smooth surface to attach the external cladding to.

Gabel Truss Overhang (Usually 1’).

Back and front walls can be fully completed on the ground and stood into place with the gable end truss attached.

Temporary spreader bars (2’ T3) on each side & king post (center stud on truss) & temporary block (1’ C3) in track will ensure quick and stable erection. If erection last longer than 4 hours, please contact a professional.

Attach one wall stud (leg) to each end of the truss.

Walk truss section into place and attach to spreader bar first then into the proper location on the bottom track with 4 #12 screws.

Attach spreader bar in truss and add spreader bars for next truss section and move temporary block.

Wall standing process.

Attach gable truss to end wall and push into place.

Corner stud can be added after or before.

Install cross bracing. Diagram on the plans show cross

Install fascia. You may need to do a field cut on the corners.

Install “rat run” as shown on plans.

Install trailer anchors if plans call for them. This is about one of the only things a hammer is good for.

Your frame is now done and ready for cladding.
